Some of us have expeienced those long, dreadful trips to vacations, a relative’s house, or even just simply a spontaneous day trip. When you’re stomach starts growling though it’s hard to maintain control of what you eat because all you want is food! Woman’s Day has a great article on places that if you stop at, choose these foods which are lower in calories and higher in nutrients than most other items on the menus. They also supply a nice list of snacks to keep in your car that are much more healthier than fast food. Check it out!
I know I’ll need to keep a list of things to bring when I take my 6 hour drive home back to Jersey!
Some of my favorite food for on the road?
- trail mix with almonds, peanuts, chocolate chips, cashews, chocoalte covered raisins, and craisins
- fruit! any fruit; banana, an apple with peanut butter, a pear, grapes, etc.
- carrots and ranch dip
- don’t forget to stay hydrated! a lot of people confuse thirst with hunger, so keep hydrated!
- make a pb&j sandwich or pb&banana sandwich ahead of time and store it. The protein, carbs, and sugars will keep you full and satisfied for a few more hours.
