Making my way up the dietetics ladder

It’s  crazy to think that in less than 15 weeks I will graduate college and slowly ease my way into the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Dietetic Internship/Masters Program! I can’t believe out of all of the people who applied, i was one of the four people to get selected for such an amazing program. As I finish my undergrad though, so many classes are fueling my desire to reach out into the community and open up my mind to new possibilities in the health field.

For the next few weeks I will be volunteering on campus in the dining facility prepping meals and serving to over 3,000 of the students. I’ve never served that many meals before (Cooking for two is my cup of tea, but cooking for 3,000?!) Mass production is a whole other side of the dietetics field that I have never considered. Think menu planning for your elementary school: remember those monthly lunch menus you would get? That involves a dietitian since there are numerous guidelines and regulations that must be followed. Getting a hands on experience like this has been such an eye opener. I can’t wait to see what the rest of my time volunteering will entail!
