How to Balance Your Life

20151220_152211000_iOSBalance: something I truly truly struggle with! I never could get myself to workout and then have a few glasses of wine with some friends, or enjoy a meal out without having to look up the nutrition information prior to the meal. Because I’m beginning such a strict diet soon for prep, I’ve decided to live a little…and living is AMAZING. After killing a good back and bi workout last night followed by some HIIT Cardio, I was able to relax most of the day and enjoy a night out with friends that involved a few glasses of wine, nachos, and more than enough laughter. I usually spend my free time (and in this, two weeks of free time due to no schooling or work) by working out and hoarding myself up in my room avoiding all possible human interaction. And maybe that’s what some people need and enjoy. Personally, I think having that social interaction occasionally is something I once thrived off of as a child and really need to have happen again. Staying up until 2AM driving around listening to god know what is playing on the radio with some of the closest friends possible is a great remedy for any type of sadness you’re feeling.

How I’ve been keeping the balance in my life:

  • Working out, 5-6 days a week
  • indulging once a day—whether it be in a piece of dark chocolate, a glass of wine, a good book, or a 30 minute nap. I don’t go overboard but sometimes you need to treat yourself
  • Eating healthy 80% of the time while still enjoying the occasional treats…. such as a cookie pie my roommate whipped up last week!
  • Not saying no to plans…unless you truly no you just cannot attend. Your friends invite you to a concert that starts in 3 hours and you have no other plans/obligations? HECK YES YOURE GOING!!

What does balance mean to you?
